Area forecast discussion National Weather Service Tampa Bay Ruskin Florida 947 am EDT sun may 19 2013 Update... quiet morning across the region with the weak pressure gradient continuing as high pressure ridges in from the northeast. Morning tbw sounding continuing to show light and variable winds in the low levels and therefore with daytime heating we will see the sea breezes develop in the next hour or two and move well inland this afternoon. Moisture continues to slowly increase with morning sounding indicating precipitable water around 1.4 inches while Miami is around 1.45 and Jacksonville around 1.5 inches. This should be enough to see some scattered convection over inland areas this afternoon and evening. Overall the current grids/zone forecast look OK with no morning update planned. && Aviation... mainly VFR next 24 hours. Main concern is late afternoon and evening thunderstorms which should remain east of I-75 except around pgd...fmy and rsw where activity may develop near terminals. && Marine... weak pressure gradient will continue with rather light winds becoming onshore near the coast with the sea breeze this afternoon. Majority of convection should remain on land...but could see a few showers and storms drift out into mainly the southern waters this evening. Present marine forecast looks on track with no major changes planned for late morning forecast. && Preliminary point temps/pops... tpa 88 73 87 71 / 20 20 40 20 fmy 90 71 90 70 / 30 20 40 20 gif 90 70 88 70 / 40 20 50 20 srq 86 70 88 70 / 20 20 30 20 bkv 89 67 88 66 / 30 20 40 20 spg 86 74 85 73 / 20 20 30 20 && Tbw watches/warnings/advisories...
